Collab
Concept
To develop a brand identity, marketing/campaign position and advertising campaign for “Collab - Digital Audio Workstation” music recording and collaboration software.
The advent of consumer-level digital audio workstations (DAW) has changed the recording landscape dramatically. Now it is possible to interface instruments and vocal equipment directly with iPads, laptop and desktop PCs in a garage home studio or even your bedroom. Most software supply copyright free pre-recorded samples, loops, riffs and rhythms that allow novice and not-so-talented musicians to play and compose accomplished sounding music.
Collab software provides affordable professional level mixing, recording and built-in sounds for 64 instruments. Collab is currently unique because its developers have created 1-click presets that mimic the overall sound of many big names artists. By selecting a preset the software loads the unique instruments and sound filters that create the typical sound of that artist or band. This allows you, as the musician, to easily replicate similar sounding tracks. Collab software also allows for the recording of your own unique sounds via sound canvas.
Collab is unique in that it can be used on Windows 8 or Mac PCs and comes bundled with Win 8 or iOS versions for tablets respectively. The tablet version also works on iPhones or Win 8 phones and all versions synchronise with each other. The platform flexibility means that musicians can compose anywhere they like and they can collaborate across platforms.
The perspective platform I took for this brief was that the software was easy and its strength is collaborating with anyone around the world. The campaign I designed was 'A walk in the park', and using the see-saw to demonstrate that composing music by collaborating is the best option when using Collab.
